At Samurai Judo Club Warrington, we’re all about fun and competitive judo. Our experienced coaches train our players to reach their highest potential, through improved fitness, self discipline, technique and self confidence. We’ve been around since 1970's and are growing rapidly. Through competions and gradings, our members are challenged to reach their full potential. Sam Lewis
Club coach
Sam has been practising judo for nearly 40 years, in which time she achieved her 2nd Dan and many regional and national titles. She has been a qualified judo coach for nearly 20 years, head coach at two branches of our club and is now assistant head coach and club manager at our Warrington club. Sam is a motivator and is a qualified secondary school PE teacher, teaching for 14 years. Her passion is making people believe that they can achieve anything they put their mind to.
Andy Lewis
Club Coach
Andy has been studying martial arts for 34 years, starting Ju Jitsu at 6 years old, and practising judo for the last 17 years, acheiving his 1st Dan. He has been coaching judo for 14 years at two of our sites and is now based in Warrington. He has a passion for all martial arts and also coaches Goju-Ryu Karate, in which he is a 3rd Dan. Andy has a degree in lifetime physical recreation and excercise physiology and so specialises in competition fitness and mindset. He is also a qualified PE teacher at secondary school level and has plenty of experience working with special needs children. Andy excells in teaching fun classes that motivate and enthuse children to learn judo through fun and game-play.

Since the 1970's, Samurai Judo Club Warrington has been a competitive force in the Warrington area. We nurture our youngest players by teaching judo skills mostly through games and fun. As they progress through the club, we hone raw talent to maturity with quality coaching, hard workouts and a true love of the sport. We teach perseverance, sportsmanship, respect and empathy at all levels - these are the hallmarks of Samurai Judo Club Warrington.
FAQ's
How many players are on each mat?
We only allow a maximum of 20 players on the mat to ensure the safety of our members and also to ensure quality coaching can take place.
How much do the sessions cost?
If you are a beginner, your first session is free! After that, juniors are £4.50, seniors £5.50 PAYG until you become a member. When you become a member, juniors are £3.50 and seniors £4.50. There are further discounts when you pay monthly!
What kind of training do the coaches have?
All coaches are fully qualified coaches registered with the BJA. They are fully DBS checked, first aid trained and child protection trained. Both of our head instructors are also qualified PE teachers with years of teaching experience behind them.
From what age can children take part in sessions?
We take children from the age of 5. From the age of 16, players are classed as seniors. From the age of 8 years, children are able to be graded in our club and also attend competitions

If you are a beginner, come down for your free session. Make sure you wear stretchy comfortable clothing (joggers and T shirt), make sure your knees are covered, with no zips or jewellery on your clothing and we will sort you out with a jacket to wear!
